With a few exceptions, all fencing books from the 15th century deal with the " Long Swertt ": a weapon whose hilt allows it to be grasped with both hands. The double-waisted handle and the profiled pommel make the sword particularly easy to grip. The stiff central ridge blade is particularly suitable for stabs.

The name " Langes Swertt " comes from the fencing book Ms 44.A.8 from the 15th century.
